Stuck Cursor Remedy

Here is a situation where a cursor no longer responds and is stuck and the remedy. If you are in a hurry just move straight to the “The Remedy:” portion of the story I completely understand I am a very busy person myself. You can always read “The Issue:” portion later on when and if you have the time.

The Issue: On the morning I awoke to find my cursor didn’t move at all, I near had a cow! I literally freaked out, had a panic attack and went into a frenzy going to the control panel and trying undo, reboot to a previous day going through the frantic motions before a cloud of cool calm over came me then I began to think let’s see hmm…what went wrong here? Oh yeah I was banging away at the keys of the computer trying to finish a hub for the hub pages I said banging away I meant it! The keys are very, I mean very hard to press not your average keys to press if you don’t press hard enough you miss a letter. I picked Toshiba brand because they are built to last forever but I have issues with my laptop keyboard anyone with knowledge how to stop the squeaking please post me or send me a note.

Before the problem of a stuck cursor intruded into my life was to rethink what did I do last? Oh yeah as I was saying I was banging away at the keys drinking a Crown Royal on the rock with a splash refrigerator filtered water when Coco my 19 lb. incredibly cute but grouchy soon to be 12 years old on April 15 shitzu calmly walked over to me kind of slinky cat like and for the first time eloquently sat on my laptop then proceeded to lick her paws like it was a delicious meat on bone meal of course I proceeded to shoo her off as soon as her cuteness wore off I realized, Hello your dog 19 lb dog is sitting on your computer! There’s going to be ramifications to this! Hey stupid put down your drink and think! So I said out loud, “Oh so cute my old little fatso puppy, I love you but you so heavy come here you putty-putty cat-dog followed by several kissy-kissy smooching noises.” I then put my drink down and cuddled her a bit then closed my laptop and proceeded to get comfortably numb.

The Aftermath: I opened the computer as I usually do after getting the breakfast and brown bag lunch prepared for my newlywed kids whom I affectionately named the love birds and the wonderful hubby whom I lovingly call “Yobo” I open the laptop to find that the cursor was stuck! I called Toshiba Tech Support they walked me through some procedure here is the dope on what I learned.

The Remedy

The Remedy: There are 2 little buttons that can make your life seem very complicated at first but it is now a no brainer which becomes a ta-dah!

The easiest button to find is the one located just above your finger pad it has an icon with 2 pictures of what is suppose to be a computer. The first picture of the icon is plain with a forward slash and the second one has a ban on it looks like a typical ring with a backward slash. Push that button. Does it work for you now? No. Okay let’s try the second remedy.

Locate the FN key located left of your spacebar be sure to monitor your screen as you do this. You will see on the top of your screen an outline of your F1-F9 at the top of your screen. Unlock your cursor by pressing the FN until you see the outline of all the FN keys and press the F9 key then press the button until it highlights the one with computer looking icon that will state the words enable under it (without a circle bar on top of it). Be extra careful not to highlight the other icon with the circle bar that will state disable. This should do the trick, it did for me! Alo-ha, from Hawaii!
